This Spring, The Chase Home is collaborating with several community partners to enhance garden spaces on the property. Gather, a non-profit organization that offers innovative programs that build food security in welcoming and dignified ways, has been an incredible support for Chase Home’s garden beds over the last few years and has recently assisted in starting seedlings in Chase Home’s new greenhouse, donated by LeMay Family Goodworks!
In April, volunteers from M&T Bank joined Gather’s Gardening and Gleaning Manager, Ally, to prepare the garden beds and greenhouse for the growing season. They helped with weeding, transferring soil, and filling seedling trays.
With funding and hands-on volunteer support from Portsmouth Rotary Club made possible by the William Cash Grant, The Chase Home was able to replace fencing around the garden beds to protect the garden from wildlife intrusion and damage.
We are so grateful for the community support and collaboration that makes our garden possible year after year. It is with the help of community partners like Gather, LeMay Family Goodworks, M&T Bank, and Portsmouth Rotary that we are able to maintain a prosperous garden at The Chase Home, producing hundreds of vegetables that feed vulnerable communities in the Seacoast. It is rewarding and hope inspiring to come together to bring fresh and organic produce to those experiencing hunger and food insecurity in our community.
